Diabetes Risk Panel w/score
FASTING REQUIRED
A Diabetes Risk Panel with Score is a group of blood tests and calculations used to estimate a person’s risk of developing diabetes (especially type 2 diabetes) or to evaluate how well the body is controlling blood sugar. The “score” combines certain results and health factors to provide an 8 year overall risk assessment.
Tests Included:
Fasting Blood Glucose (Fasting Blood Sugar):
Measures the amount of glucose in the blood after fasting.
Helps identify normal blood sugar, prediabetes, or diabetes.
Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c):
Measures average blood sugar levels over approximately the past 2–3 months.
Used to screen for and monitor diabetes.
Lipid Panel:
Measures:
LDL cholesterol
HDL cholesterol
Triglycerides
Total cholesterol
Abnormal levels can be associated with metabolic syndrome and increased diabetes risk.
Body measurements and risk factors (may be used in scoring):
Age
Weight or BMI
Family history of diabetes
Blood pressure
Lifestyle factors
What the risk score tells you
The score estimates the likelihood of:
Developing type 2 diabetes in the future
Having insulin resistance
Having metabolic risk factors associated with diabetes
A higher risk score may suggest the need for:
Lifestyle changes (diet, exercise, weight management)
More frequent blood sugar monitoring
Additional testing or medical evaluation
Conditions it may help identify
A diabetes risk panel can help identify:
Prediabetes
Type 2 diabetes risk
Insulin resistance
Metabolic syndrome
Increased cardiovascular risk related to diabetes
